Glasnost is a Russian word meaning "openness", it refers to a general loosening of government control on the aspects of life and the end of criticism. And Peristrokia economic and political program in soviet union by Mikhail Gorbachev. Mikhail Gorbachev was a man who actually listened to the citizens of Soviet Union. He allowed books to be published when it was banned. He allowed people to speak for their rights. Usually the communist leaders would do things their way and not listen the citizens because they had the most power but Mikhail Gorbachev made sure every voice is to be heard. He also allowed churches to be opened and private businesses were also allowed to be open. The citizens profited from this idea and their economy increased.

Collapse of Communism

Communism is a form of socialism thats abolishes the the private ownership of the people. The collapsed of communism in Eastern Europe and USSR is mainly because people can do whatever they want. And increase the nationalism. And people chose not to be communist anymore.And caused the fall of Berlin Wall because people
destroyed it. And Germany followed the other European nation. And later on they removed communism in Europe. The fall of communism change the countries and unified other small countries.

Nelson Mandela and Apartheid

Apartheid is a racial segragation between white and black people. Apartheid is the main policy throughout Africa in 1900's. An organization was created and it is called the ANC or the African national Congress. ANC is a main role in controlling Apartheid. And Neslon Mandela was a major member of this organization. Nelson Mandela was put in jail because he was against the Apartheid. He was put in jail for over 26 long years. Nelson Mandela helped in coming up stuffs to show the whites that they dont want to be controlled. Nelson Mandela planned to strike. Even though he's was put in jail he gave people hope that 1 day they will be free.
Nelson Mandela was able to stop the Apartheid within the next five years. And by the hard work and determination that he give he weaken Apartheid. And for the next years he was elected as the President of South Africa. Nelson Mandela is considered as a hero in South Africa because of the end of unequal rights given to Africans before. And when this ended blacks can vote fairly like the whites before. Nelson Mandela is admired and appreciated because of his acts tho free black from white and have equal rights to the society.

African Independence

In 1955 Africa was made up of colonies but this was under European rule. During the 20 years African became more educated. And many colonies gained independence. Africa did not gain independence easily they've been struggling from Europeans. Ghana was the first nation who gained independence. Kwame Nkrumah lead the Africa's independence by nonviolent protest. He wants to industrialized Africa by education and a lot more and this spread rapidly. And led changes to Africa. And the independence of Ghana was followed by other nations like Kenya which was lead by Jomo Kenyatta. And Mau Mau is a secret society which controls nonviolent protest. And was then succesful for the independence of Kenya. And another nation had gained independence was Angola had been under the rule of Portuguese. And led to a great change to Africa.

The Neolithic Revolution is one of the components of civilization. And Neolithic Revolution positively occurred independently.
It is a slow event occurred and developed from the practice of hunting and gathering. Hunting of wild animals and gartering of
plants. Domestication of plants and animals lead to population of people by towns,cities and urban.And Neolithic Revolution occurred in a Fertile land like near the riverbanks because it usually produce healthy dirt,for growing plants. The only disadvantage about the Neolithic Revolution is when theres a hard typhoon or bad weather occurred in certain place because it will wash out all the crop and probably can kill wild animals. Because of Neolithic Revolution population, density and the organization of system increases. And increased the trading system.

The European Union (EU) is an alliance composed of 25 countries. European Union is
an intergovernmental union(levels of governments).
European Union was formed after World War II, and also European Union unites these 25 countries
economically and politically. After the fall of Soviet the USA became the superpower. The Union is free to move with common trade policies and with the factors of production.And its single currency is Euro and was adopeted troughtout the countries in Europe. The people that live or citizens in these European union are free to work in different states. And was implemented 10 years ago. Europe is open port travelers usually go there because it easier for them. And it help them to do business easily without having a hard trouble and free. The European Union makes it to the thirds largest country with citizens.And economically they are succesful becasue they have huge territories.And if some nation wants to trade with one of Europeans Union it should respect and follow its rules.

The film "Right Stuff" shows the the engagement of people for military service, training, space fight. And this space race is between the Soviet Union and the U.S. Because the Soviet was the first to create
a rocket into space. Because of this advancement of the Soviet the U.S. was trying to beat the soviet to be more advance. And the Soviet is more advance before. It was difficult for the U.S. they engage people for the first U.S. astronauts.This film is like fictionalized movie. And for the characters in the movie , i guess their arrogance helps them to overcome their fears
because you need to be strange and perfectly fit to get your self fasten into different actions to be astronaut.The U.S. was eager to that they send a chimp into the space. From the next years the U.S. was more advance now and the first to put a man to the moon.

Cuban Missile Crisis

The Cuban Missile Crisis is an argument United States and the Soviet Union in the presence of missile sites in Cuba. And one of the hottest periods during the Cold War. The Soviets Premier was Nikita Khruschev ut missile all over Cuba because Soviet Union is scared that US will be attacking them anytime so they can have a back up from Cuba and decidJohn F. Kennedy to surround Cuba with Missiles and the President of the United States found it out later about what Soviet did. So President John F. Kennedy president of United States decided to surround Cuba with ships. And later on Kennedy inform him that he wants the Missile will be gone from Cuba or else US will invade Cuba and have a Missile fight.

NATO and the Warsaw Pact

NATO stands for "North Atlantic Treaty Organization" it was established by military
alliance and was signed on April 4, 1949. In which they agreed for mutual or shared defence from the attacked of any outside party. And was formed by Belgium, Canada, the Czech Republic, Denmark, France,Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, the netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom and United States. They are committed in fulifilling the goals of the North Atlantic Treaty. Warsaw Pact is the "Treaty of Friendship, co-operation, and mutual assistance" was founded in 1955. Warsaw Pact is similar to NATO. It is a total equality of nations and mutual non-interference. Formed allies by Albania, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, East Germany, Hungary, Poland, Romania, and the Soviet Union. Wrsaw quickly became powerful for political tool for Soivet Union to the powers of their combined military.

Film Lesson: "Night and Fog"

I obtained a lot of information from the movie "Night and Fog". Most of the scenes are interesting. It gave me a feeling how the Jewish were maltreated those times. It made me feel I was a part of those agony they experienced.I felt sick the thought of the scenes. It showed colorful scenes of Auschwitz and the concentration camps that were used during WW II. I love how the graphics were presented.One scene that I would never forget was when the Allied Nations came into Germany and threw all the dead bodies of the Jews into large pits with the use of a bulldozer. I was equally shocked and scared because I saw how the condition of the camps were people had to live in, the beds that the Jews were given to sleep on seemed very rough and small. This movie showed one of the concentration camps a few years after WW II had ended, this camp seemed much more peaceful. I found it hard to believe that people had once been killed in this area, the area was mainly covered with plants and moss which made it seem more appealing and peaceful to me. The remains of the camps are still visible years after the war, like the poles that held up the fences are still standing and the rail roads where many Jews were thrown onto are still visible.

I think the movie is powerful that it was able to arouse interest in the viewers by using brutal, violent, and sad scenes. A combination of thiese aspects made the viewers feel that they were in the shoes of the Jews in the Holocaust.This movie was also very informative with its comparison of the two different settings, I felt like I was actually among the Jews watching their death and their terrible life style. One of the powerful scenes that I recall in this movie was when the Jews were in the trains being transported to the German death camp. This scene made me feel angry at the Nazis because they forced all these people to get onto one train and this caused people to die from diseases.

I found a few poweerful scenes in the "Night and Fog", but not as powerful as the "Schindler's List".This maybe due to the tremendous amount of information given to the audience in the Schindler's List.The former was a longer movie such that it was able to picture the details of the Holocaust, so people were able to grasp more meaningful understanding. "Shindler's List" contains more graphic scenes and it also had a few funny parts such as when some of the Jewish children hide in the toilets, this was powerful in the sense that it got my attention and showed me the harsh conditions the Jews had to go through to survive. The movie "Night and Fog" was based on the death camps during and after WW II, scenes from "Shindler's List" were also more powerful due to the fact that they showed many different settings and situations that the Jews were in. Generally, the Hollywood version of the Holocaust was able to show a clearer, more precise and almost real scenes that happened during the Holocaust than the documentary.

Schindler did not see how the Jews worked hard for him, his main objective was money because he is a womanizer. He does not care for the people he employs, he only cares that they are hard workers and do not cost as much as hiring normal citizens.He did not care for their welfare and the condition of their living. Jews in concentration camps who were hardly treated humane. The workers were jammed in small carriages without water, made them sick or others even died in their trip.These are but just some of the brutal scenes.

One of the scenes which I consider most powerful was the brutal ways the Jews were killed, losing loved ones or loved ones being separated, their struggle for survival was unbearable. I think the movie was well done especially it's effect of black and white screens. My heart really breaks when the little girl in red jacket was able to escape death, but only to find out she came out a lifeless body and ready to be burned.How could these people take away the life of a helpless creature.This situation showed us that it was a whole hopeless case.

I think the what will really stay in my mind was that when Schindler cried before the Jews, I think he was moved by how the Jews submitted themselves for hard labor. This transformation was due to the fact that he interacts with thse people in his factory. While other people had not encountered Jews as much since the war broke out or had seen them in concentration camps where they were hardly human, Schindler had hundreds of Jews working for him. It was during the liquidation of the ghetto Schindler started to chane. Somehow he felt somekind of a guilt. Schindler’s had had some change of mind since then because of his pained expression as he saw Jews running and getting shot by the Nazis.

He saved thousands of Jews in exchange of being a traitor to Czekoslovakia, he revealed the military secrets to the Germans. This treacherous act led to the victory of the Germans.

US Atomic bombing in Japan in 1945

I think I would rank The discovery of antibiotic, penicillin to be #1 news story because it is a breakthrough in Science, specifically in the field of medicine. It would leave a lasting effect on people especially this medicine would be the best cure for infection or related illnesses.Prior to this discovery people died of infection but this discovery saved thousands of lives.

I would rank the discovery of DNA structure #2 because it is a very important unit of life. A modification of DNA would bring either destruction to life or modern genetic engineering so as to improve life, like cloning of crops or animals.This method would result higher and better quality yield in a shorter time. This discovery would also enlighten society why, how cancer takes place and its early detection would be able to combat this deadly disease.

I may rank Hiroshima atomic bombing as #3 because it highlighted the end of World War II. The war may have an effect for 2 or 3 generations, but it won't last forever, because its effect may die after generations when people's memory fails or fade.It may have an impact in ones immediate life.

Propaganda is an information, ideas, or rumors deliberately spread widely to help or harm a person, group, movement, institution, or nation.

The Anti-Bolshevik poster says, "Europe's Victory is Your Prosperity". This Nazi propaganda poster expresses how this party under the rule of Hitler took control of Germany through forces. It further shows how Germany destroyed Great Britain.

As a result of this war, it left thousands dead as evident of the graveyard, depicted by Churchill. The anti-Bolshevik poster above proclaims that Germany has destroyed Great Britain and shows how the nailed fist of Germany is turning its attention to the east - threatening a knock-out blow for Stalin and the Soviet Union. The justification in the poster for the invasion of the USSR (in violation of the Nazi-Soviet non-aggression pact) is security (baby in a cradle) and prosperity (living space for Germans).

The Treaty of Versailles was a peace agreement after the WWI was ended in the year 1918. Between the allied and the Central powers and the Germn Empire. The Treaty of Versailles was about the responsiblities that Germany should take after the damages of WWI. Because during this war a lot of families was lost, homes was destroyed and people savered from starvation. And jobs too. Britain think it was unfair because they did the war but other countries had shared with them like France. Because of this treaty it was hard for Britain to regain power and wealth because they need to pay for every damage done. And their population is decreasing too because of some lands taken from them and lead to fascism.

He was selected to be the first President because he was a military hero and a good ottoman cmmander during WWI. Mustafa wants to make Turkey more secular society that people would pay a little attetion on religion. he wanted to remove religion from education, cultural and legal affairs, and the country. Film Lesson: "Gandhi"

Gandhi lead India's Independence Movement. Gandhi is a political and spiritual leader of India, against the British people who were harsh with them during the slavery period. Gandhi was honored by his people as the father of Indian nation. He was considered as Mahatma which emans "Great Soul" and later on people were starting to call him Mahatma Gandhi. Gandhi was been in Africa to work during the time Africa and India was controlled by the British. When he was still in Africa, people were been rude to Gandhi. He stayed for 21 years in Africa to secure the rights of India. And later on he developed a method called Satyagraha which was about the principle of courage, nonviolenece and truth. Gandhi didnt like the way how Bristish treat Indian people and was just taking the advantage on them. And Gandhi taught his people on how to rebel against the Bristish by nonviolent and civil disobedience. He decided to weave their own clothes and not buy the British products, and not to pay taxes. And he started to weave his own clothes too. Not only the clothe but the production of salt too from Indian ocean. And marched 24o miles to the sea and was done successfully.This boycott caused sales on British clothes to drop. India was been granted for its Independence in year 1947. And after this Independence, muslims and Hindus wants to be separated and Gandhi didnt approve on it , but it didnt happen both countries were still separated. And during Insdia's Independence WWII was ended int he Bristish during the 1940's.
